Evertonians have voted Leon Osman’s spectacular long-range effort against Manchester City as their goal of the month for March.
The left-foot rocket was up against some impressive rivals – namely Kevin Mirallas’ wonderful solo goal against Stoke and Steven Pienaar’s own thumping 20-yarder against Reading - but pulled in a winning 48 per cent share of the vote.
The goal set David Moyes’ men on their way to a fine 2-0 victory over the reigning Premier League champions and gives Osman his second Goal of the Month prize of the campaign.
Mirallas’ mazy run and neat finish in the 1-0 win over the Potters came in second, while Pienaar’s Reading thunderbolt pipped Mirallas’ clever goal from the same game and Nikica Jelavic’s late curler against Manchester City to take third.
Reflecting on the attempt which secured him victory, a modest Osman told evertontv: "Joe [Hart] is a fantastic keeper and to beat him from that range, I can't ask for more. I'm delighted.
"Maybe it bobbled a little bit as I hit it but it went in the back of the net and it gave us the goal we needed to go on and win the match.
"We've now got to concentrate on the league and getting as high as we can. I think the performance against City was one which showed that's important to us and that we want to win our remaining games."
