Kevin Mirallas has been passed fit to start Everton's game against Tottenham, while teenager Ross Barkley has been handed a first Premier League start of the season.

Belgian flyer Mirallas was a 50/50 doubt ahead of the Blues’ trip to North London but will take his place in a side that also includes the 19-year-old Barkley.

The youngster has been given an opportunity in the absence of fellow midfielders Steven Pienaar and Marouane Fellaini, who serve the second game of their respective two-match bans.

Joining Barkley in the middle of the park is Darron Gibson and Leon Osman, while at the back, David Moyes continues with the three-man defence that served him so well against Stoke City at Goodison a week ago.

That means Phil Jagielka, Sylvain Distin and Johnny Heitinga all start, with Seamus Coleman and Leighton Baines providing the support from the flanks, and Tim Howard between the sticks.

Mirallas meanwhile will look to play off Victor Anichebe, who takes his place up front ahead of Nikica Jelavic.

January signing John Stones retains his place on the bench and he is joined by Jan Mucha, Jelavic, Bryan Oviedo, Steven Naismith, Thomas Hitzlsperger and Shane Duffy.

As expected, Gareth Bale is missing for Spurs, after picking up a knock in the Londoners’ Europa League tie with FC Basel in midweek.

Everton: Howard, Coleman, Baines, Heitinga, Distin, Jagielka, Gibson, Mirallas, Osman, Barkley, Anichebe. Subs: Mucha, Jelavic, Oviedo, Naismith, Hitzlsperger, Stones, Duffy

Tottenham Hotspur: Lloris, Walker, Caulker, Dawson, Vertonghen, Parker, Dembele, Sigurdsson, Holtby, Dempsey, Adebayor. Subs: Friedel, Naughton, Assou-Ekotto, Livermore, Huddlestone, Carroll, Ceballos
