A clinical first-half display set Everton on their way to all three points when they visited White Hart Lane six years ago.
The Blues had got the 2007/08 season off to a flying start by beating Wigan Athletic at Goodison Park on the opening day – and they maintained their place at the top of the table with an excellent 3-1 win over big-spending Tottenham.
Joleon Lescott gave Everton an early lead, nodding in Mikel Arteta’s flighted free-kick.
Another headed goal, this time by future Everton loanee Anthony Gardner, had Spurs back level but the Toffees regained the advantage on 37 minutes through Leon Osman.
The midfielder followed up his strike against the Latics a week earlier by lashing the ball past Paul Robinson following Ricardo Rocha’s weak clearance.
On the stroke of half-time it was 3-1 as Alan Stubbs hammered home from outside the box, with the ball clipping Didier Zokora on its route to goal.
The second half was all about Everton’s battling qualities as they comfortably saw out the game to make it two league wins from two.
