Seamus Coleman will win his 10th Republic of Ireland cap on Friday evening after being named in Giovanni Trapattoni’s team to face Sweden.
The Republic travel to Stockholm with two wins to their name from the first three Group C matches – but can ill-afford to drop points against second-placed Sweden.
And Coleman has been given licence by Trapattoni to continue exhibiting the same attacking tendencies which have caught the eye for Everton this season.
"I wish Coleman to go (forward). When he goes, we need protection. It is important we play our game," declared the veteran Italian.
Germany currently top the table having recorded 10 points from their first four games, including a 6-1 win in Dublin last October.
Coleman made 13 appearances for Republic of Ireland Under-21s before progressing to make his senior international debut against Wales in February 2011.
