There’s no game for Everton this weekend as attention turns to the international scene and qualification for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Leighton Baines, Leon Osman, Seamus Coleman, Nikica Jelavic, Kevin Mirallas, Marouane Fellaini, Steven Naismith and Bryan Oviedo will all be hoping to pull on the colours of their respective nations and help them move a step closer to next summer’s big event.

With some key encounters set to take place over the coming days, we asked our stats man, Gavin Buckland, to dig out some of his best Everton international trivia…

1Times in past 100 years that two different Everton players have scored for England in successive internationals, Phil Jagielka breaching the defence of the Italians last August before Leighton Baines netted a free-kick in Moldova the following month. The only previous instance of this happening had been in 1902, when Jack Sharp and Jimmy Settle notched in consecutive games for the Three Lions.

2 International goals scored in England by the legendary Bobby Moore – both remarkably coming at Goodison Park. In 1961, the World Cup-winning skipper netted during an Under-21 international against Wales before following it up in January 1966 with his only senior England goal on these shores during a 1-1 draw with Poland.

Pele Bulgaria

2 Countries outside of the British Isles who have fielded three Everton players in the same line-up. In 2002, Sweden’s line-up against Switzerland included Niclas Alexanderson, Jesper Blomqvist and Tobias Linderoth, while six years later Joseph Yobo, Victor Anichebe and Yakubu all played for Nigeria in a game against Austria.

3 Games played at Goodison Park by the legendary Pele during the 1966 World Cup – the Brazilian’s only competitive appearances in England during his illustrious career.

Yakubu Yobo

9 Caps for the Republic of Ireland for Seamus Coleman. The defender still has some way to go to match the Club record for appearances for the men in green – Kevin Sheedy won 42 during his time at Goodison and, in 1990, became the first ever Irishman to score in a World Cup finals.

18 The record for the number of international goals scored by an Everton player while with the Club, shared by Dixie Dean and Tim Cahill.

31 Years since the only international game that has seen Everton players net for both teams. The match in question was an Under-21 international between England and Scotland at Maine Road in 1982, with both Adrian Heath and Graeme Sharp getting on the scoresheet in a 1-1 draw.

David Weir

43 Caps won by David Weir while an Everton player. No other Scot has racked up as many while playing for the Toffees.

68 International caps won by American Tim Howard since he moved to Goodison Park, the most by an overseas player and second only to Neville Southall’s record of 92 international appearances while tied to the Blues.
