Darron Gibson has urged his Everton teammates to return from international duty ready to chase a place in Europe.
The midfielder helped the Blues see off reigning champions Manchester City at Goodison on Saturday, with David Moyes’ troops turning in a manful performance and running out 2-0 winners despite playing 30 minutes with 10 men.
With many of his club colleagues travelling far and wide to play for their respective countries, there are 10 days until Everton’s next outing.
Upon their collective reunion, Gibson is keen for the team to repeat the performance against City in their final nine games, which include trips to fellow European hopefuls Tottenham, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool.
"I think we have been great all season,” said the 25-year-old.
“[The FA Cup defeat to Wigan] was a bad game for us but against Manchester City we bounced back and showed what kind of team we really are.
“I loved that game. I always enjoy playing at Goodison and getting three points makes it even better."
Leon Osman fired the Blues ahead against Roberto Mancini's men - and Gibson was full of praise for the stand-in skipper.
"Leon’s on fire at the minute," he said.
"He is showing everyone what a great player he is. He had the armband and the goal topped his performance off.
“We’ll kick on from that performance and hopefully get as many points as we can.
“We’ve shown what we can do.”
Goodison is the venue for Everton’s next match - against Stoke City on Saturday 30 March. Tickets can be purchased online here , by calling 0871 663 1878* or in person at the Goodison Box Office, Everton Two or TicketQuarter.
