Everton welcome Manchester City to Goodison Park on Saturday looking to rack up a fourth successive home win over the reigning Premier League champions.

With eight victories and just two defeats coming in the last 11 meetings between the two sides, David Moyes’ men have often got the better of their visitors and will be out for three points once again to start the final 10 games of the season in style.

Here we preview the weekend tie with the help of more stats, facts and numbers…

2 Goals required by the Toffees to reach 600 at Goodison in the Premier League, we have played exactly 400 matches so far.

Darron Gibson scores

5 Goals scored by Manchester City’s Tommy Johnson in their 6-2 victory at Goodison in September 1928, the only opposing player to achieve the feat in an Everton home game. This was despite the visitors changing in taxis on the way to the ground after their train was late. The Manchester club sold the striker to the Toffees in 1930 and he played in our title-winning campaign of 1931/32 and FA Cup final victory - against City - in the following season.

9 Goals scored by Everton during the course of our biggest ever top-flight victory, against Manchester City at Goodison in September 1906 – the Toffees running out 9-1 winners thanks primarily to four goals from Alex ‘Sandy’ Young. We equalled the tally in a 9-1 win over Plymouth in the old Second Division 25 years later.

Everton v Manchester City

11 Victories for Everton in the last 17 meetings between the two teams, with two draws and just four defeats. Curiously in none of those matches has either team scored more than twice.

27 Years since an Everton player last scored a hat-trick against the Manchester side, Gary Lineker netting a treble in a 4-0 home win during February 1986.

Jelavic Norwich

50 Everton appearances for Nikica Jelavic should the striker play on Saturday. The Croatian international has 18 goals so far in his Toffees career.

92 Years since Everton recorded four successive home league wins over City, last doing so either side of World War I, with the fourth victory being achieved in 1920/21. The Toffees’ current sequence of three victories started with a 2-0 win in January 2010.

171 Matches between the two clubs in all competitions, with Everton leading 65-63 on head-to-head victories.

300 Everton starts in all competitions for Leon Osman should the midfielder be named in the first XI on Saturday.
