Seamus Coleman will miss Saturday’s FA Cup tie at Bolton, manager David Moyes has confirmed.

The Republic of Ireland international limped off during the goalless draw at Southampton on Monday and has failed to recover in time for the Blues’ fourth round trip to Lancashire.

Moyes will have a decision to make at right-back as Tony Hibbert is also sidelined with a calf injury, though the Blues boss does have midfielder Darron Gibson (thigh) edging ever closer to a first-team return.

"Seamus Coleman has got an injury and won't play tomorrow and Darron Gibson is improving," said Moyes at his pre-match press conference. "We're okay, we've not got too many injuries but we've got one or two."

Everton were able to welcome back Kevin Mirallas at Southampton, the winger making a 25-minute cameo from the substitutes' bench after virtually two months on the sidelines.

Moyes believes the Belgian's return to fitness has come at just the right time.

However, with one attempted comeback having already failed, the Scot remains wary of rushing the 25-year-old.

"He had a hamstring injury and then he had a recurrence of it," said Moyes. "Anybody who plays football will know the worst thing is the recurrence and that actually worries you more. We've given him maximum time now, he's had lots of training, he's seen specialists, so hopefully he's through the worst of it.

"We got him back for 25 minutes the other night and we've got to watch him. We're still building him back into it and we have got a long way to go in the season and a lot of Premier League games where we're hoping he can help us.

"He's hard to describe at times but he's got different parts to his game which we really like and it's given us a different dimension. When he was in the team we were probably at our best attacking and we're probably going to need him now heading into the final third of the season.

"Kevin could play upfront and anywhere across the front line and that gives us a few options. We've just got to be careful we don't expect too much too soon from him."
