Sylvain Distin has become the latest player to commit his future to Everton by signing a new one-year contract.
Distin's current deal was set to expire at the end of this season but he has now agreed to remain with the Blues until the summer of 2014.
He said: "I’m happy that I’m staying for another season. Everton is a great club – I’ve said that from day one.
"I didn’t have any reason to leave and the Club wanted me to stay, so I’m happy that we could figure it out."
The Frenchman, 35, is a regular at the heart of Everton's defence and has made 19 appearances so far this term.
He has been a key member of the Blues squad since arriving from Portsmouth in 2009 and follows fellow defenders Phil Jagielka and Seamus Coleman in committing his future to the Club.
