Everton legend Joe Royle has backed the Blues to come out on top against another of his former sides on Saturday.
David Moyes takes his troops to the Etihad Stadium to face Manchester City with the Premier League champions undefeated on home soil in the league since Everton's visit in December 2010.
But with eight victories in the last 10 encounters between the two teams, most recently the 1-0 win at Goodison in January, Royle believes the Toffees will feel that they can end the hosts' 36-game run.
He told evertontv: "Going to City is never easy, but if any side has had a bit of a hoodoo over them in recent seasons, it's Everton.
"In January, Everton out-fought, out-played and outwitted them - they swarmed all over City.
"It was a totally professional performance. David Moyes got it all right. He knew what he wanted to do with the side that day and they all worked like Trojans. They never let City settle."
And while Royle would like to see a repeat victory, the former Citizens forward and manager warns that the champions have yet to fully get into gear, despite being just a point off the top of the table.
"City have had a steady start to the league, without ever being at their best,” he said. “That's still to come and when they are at their best, they're pretty awesome. They have the best squad in the divison in my opinion.
"Everton will go there with no shortage of confidence however. It's not an easy game but the Blues will rise to it."
