Everton captain Phil Neville could be out for up to two months after undergoing a knee operation, David Moyes has confirmed.
The Blues skipper had surgery on Friday and is likely to be missing for between six and eight weeks.
Neville was a surprise omission from Everton's squad for Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Reading and after the game Moyes admitted the 35-year-old had been a major loss.
“We missed his leadership. We were missing a number of senior players. You could see by our bench,” said the Scot.
“He had an operation on his knee. We expect him to be missing for six to eight weeks."
Neville has made 13 appearances for the Blues so far this season.
