Everton in the Community has been named ‘Best Club Community Scheme’ at the inaugural Football Business Awards in recognition of its ground breaking work across Merseyside. The Blues’ official charity scooped the prestigious award beating off stiff competition from six other club community schemes from around the country, including The Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, Wolves Community Trust and Albion in the Community.
Officials from Everton in the Community attended a prestigious gala dinner on Thursday 8 November, which took place at Chelsea Football Club, where all the evening’s 16 winners were revealed to the football industry’s glitterati from across Europe.
The news comes as Everton in the Community announced its 25th anniversary campaign this week to raise awareness of the difference the charity has made to vulnerable and underprivileged people on Merseyside during the last quarter of a century. The Blues’ official charity is also inviting all Evertonians to be a part of the Club’s biggest ever charitable campaign to raise £1million to help Everton in the Community in its mission to support even more people across the region for the next 25 years – and beyond.
Everton in the Community’s Chief Executive, Dr Denise Barrett-Baxendale, said: “This week has been a momentous occasion for Everton in the Community. We have announced our 25th anniversary campaign and been voted the best community scheme in football – it is just fantastic news and I am utterly proud to be Blue!”
