Everton have signed Thomas Hitzlsperger on a short-term contract. The former German international midfielder put pen-to-paper this morning on a deal that will keep him at the Club until January.
Everton are currently awaiting international clearance for the signing. However, as the contract was signed before Friday's midday deadline, the 30-year-old would be eligible to be included in the squad for Sunday's Premier League fixture at QPR - subject to international clearance being granted.
Hitzlsperger has been training with Everton for a number of weeks in a bid to prove his fitness after recovering from a long term injury.
He figured as an over-aged player in a recent outing for Everton's Under-21s at Norwich and has earned 52 caps for his country during a career which has included spells at Aston Villa, Stuttgart, Lazio, West Ham and Wolfsburg.
He has been handed shirt number 16 in the Blues' squad.
