Evertonians are urged to give blood at Goodison Park this week.
The stadium will be open for two donation sessions in the People’s Club lounge on Friday (5 October) between 2-4pm and 5.30-7.30pm.
Blues defender Shane Duffy has been a vocal advocate of blood donation in the past.
In 2009 Duffy lacerated his liver in a freak collision while on Ireland duty and lost 3.6 litres of blood, around two-thirds of his supply.
Life-saving surgery and over 20 units of blood put him on the road to recovery and the 20-year-old knows how important it is that donors continue to come forward.
He said: "Everyone knows just how much I owe to blood donors. They saved my life - it's as simple as that. Giving blood is something that a lot of people are happy to leave to others because they think the supply will always be there.
"That's not the case and I would urge any Evertonians in the area to pop along and start giving blood.”
Appointments to donate are available via www.blood.co.uk or by calling 0300 123 23 23. Alternatively donors can just turn up during the times advertised.
