Leighton Baines has been named Everton's player of the month for September.

The highlights of the England left-back's month saw him score against Newcastle and have a hand in two of Everton's three goals at Swansea.

Baines collected his award at a lunch event at Liverpool's Hilton Hotel, attended by a swathe of business luminaries and Club partners.

He received the player of the month trophy and a designer watch from TW Steel.

After receiving his award, Baines told evertontv: "It's pleasing to receive the award and also pleasing that the team is doing well.

"That is the most important thing, really. We are playing well at the moment and doing well in the league.

"The highlight of the month was probably the goal against Newcastle, it was pleasing to get going and especially with it being from open play."
