Leighton Baines will make his first competitive start for England on Friday night.

As expected, the Everton left-back has been named in place of the injured Ashley Cole for the Three Lions' 2014 World Cup qualifier in Moldova.

Fellow Blues defender Phil Jagielka is named among the substitutes.

An ankle injury forced Chelsea defender Cole to pull out of the squad earlier this week, paving the way for Baines to line up at the back alongside John Terry, Glen Johnson and former Blues teammate Joleon Lescott.

Joe Hart starts in goal for the Three Lions, while James Milner, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Tom Cleverley will support lone striker Jermain Defoe.

Hart, Johnson, Baines, Gerrard, Lescott, Terry, Milner, Lampard, Defoe, Cleverley, Oxlade Chamberlain. Subs: Ruddy,  Walker, Bertrand, Cahill, Carrick, Jagielka, Walcott, Sturridge, Welbeck, Butland
