Everton Reserves coach Alan Stubbs felt his side could have done more after seeing them held to a 1-1 draw by Wolves on Monday.

The result saw the second string extend their unbeaten run to eight games but Stubbs admitted he had expected more of his players on home soil.

The Blues took the lead just after the half-hour mark through John Lundstram but were pegged back after the break when Jake Kempton capitalised on uncertainty in the hosts’ defence to lash in an equaliser.

"I thought a draw was probably a fair result to both teams but I've said to our lads that I didn't really think we did enough to win the game," Stubbs told evertontv. "We had a young team out and it showed at times.

"I do feel the players could have done a little bit more. I thought the ones we expected to do well tried hard. I thought Jose [Baxter] - if we were going to do anything it was going to have to come through Jose; he showed his quality. But unfortunately he couldn't do it all by himself.

"I thought Shane [Duffy] did alright. He won all his headers, he looked steady, his attitude was good, but I thought apart from that we struggled to get a grip on the game to be honest.”

The second string will be in action again on Thursday when they travel to Wigan.
