Howard Pens New Deal

by Matthew Gamble @efc_mattgamble

Tim Howard is on course to complete a decade at Everton after agreeing a new long-term deal.

The USA international put pen to paper on a new contract this week that will keep him at Goodison Park until 2016.

Howard joined Everton from Manchester United in 2006, initially on loan, and he has been the model of consistency since then, playing over 250 games for the Blues.

This season he moved ahead of Neville Southall in the Everton Premier League appearance chart and, of course, he has also registered his first ever professional goal.

Howard told evertontv: "I couldn't be happier. I've had a smile on my face ever since we finalised the deal.

"When you have a really good relationship in life and both sides are eager to continue and  keep that going, it's a no-brainer.

"This hasn't been a knockdown, drawn-out type of negotiation with meetings or anything like that. They were very happy to keep me here and I was very, very happy to stay.

"It's a place that is home for me."
