Hospitality Awards Success

by Matthew Gamble @efc_mattgamble

Everton's hospitality team were amongst the winners at the Football Hospitality awards on Thursday.

Executive head chef Gareth Billington won the special achievement prize of this work with young chefs.

And Gareth's team of matchday chefs narrowly lost out to Aston Villa in the chef team of the year award, taking the silver medal during the ceremony at Molineux.

Gareth told "The special achievement was the big one for me. We put a lot of hard work in to developing young chefs and this recognises that.

"We work closely with a charity called Springboard to go into schools and colleges and talk about making a career as a chef.

"We are pretty unique within the football industry in terms of the work we do with young chefs so this is rewarding.

"We have eight chefs who have come through the process working in our matchday team so that is testament to what we are doing."

Gareth was also keen to praise his matchday team after they were acknowledged for their work this season.

"I am really proud of the team," he continued. "We have 30 chefs working on a matchday so I have to say a big thanks to all of them. The award is a true reflection of what we do."
