Leighton Baines has been called up by England for Wednesday night’s friendly with Denmark in Copenhagen – but there is no place in the squad for Everton teammate Phil Jagielka.
Baines is included in a Three Lions squad for the first time since he missed out on the final 23-man squad for last summer’s World Cup.
The Blues left back has been in tremendous form this season, supplying numerous assists and chipping in with the odd goal.
Jagielka’s omission is slightly surprising given the importance of his role in England’s good start to qualification for Euro 2012.
The six-times capped centre back has started three of his country's last four games.
England squad: Ben Foster, Joe Hart, David Stockdale, Leighton Baines, Gary Cahill, Ashley Cole, Michael Dawson, Glen Johnson, Joleon Lescott, John Terry, Kyle Walker, Gareth Barry, Stewart Downing, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, James Milner, Scott Parker, Theo Walcott, Jack Wilshere, Ashley Young, Gabriel Agbonlahor, Darren Bent, Peter Crouch, Jermain Defoe, Wayne Rooney
