Wilson Makes Pro Debut

Young Everton defender Laurence Wilson finally made his professional debut at the weekend.

Wilson, whose loan move to Mansfield Town eventually went through last week after previous paperwork problems, came on as a second half substitute for The Stags at Wycombe Wanderers.

The game ended in a 2-2 draw, which was a terrific result for struggling Mansfield at high-flying Wycombe.

Wilson, who has been a regular fixture in the Everton reserve side for two seasons, started on the bench at Causeway Lane but was introduced as a 63rd minute replacement for Adam Rundle as Mansfield looked to protect a shock lead.

Sadly for the 19-year old full-back, who has signed an initial one-month deal, the promotion chasing home side equalised before the end but Wilson will be hopeful of more senior action on Tuesday when Mansfield play host to Grimsby Town.
