Young Ressies

Everton reserves travel to Leeds United this evening with a squad full of Under-18 players.

The team to face the Yorkshiremen at the Atlantic Solutions Stadium (kick off 7.00 pm) will be managed by Neil Dewsnip and Gary Ablett, with normal boss Andy Holden on first team duty.

There is just one change from the team that defeated Newcastle United 1-0 with goalscoring substitute Alan Kearney coming into the starting 11 in place of Guillaume Plessis, who has been withdrawn from the squad.

However, despite their tender years, the Blues second team has a familiar look about it, with Sean Lake in goal, Sean Wright, Lawrence Wilson, Patrick Boyle and Mark Hughes at the back and Victor Anichebe and Andrew Fowler in attack.

Kearney, James Harris, Christian Seargeant and Bjarni Vidarsson are in midfield, while the bench consists of Mathew Holt, Craig Gallagher, Johan Davidsen, Paul Hopkins and schoolboy John Irving.

Leeds are currently lying six places and eight points behind the Blues and for their youngsters it will be their second game in 48 hours after they were defeated 1-3 at Birmingham on Monday evening.

The teams will get to know each other quite well over the next week - as the corresponding fixture at Haig Avenue, Southport, will be played next Tuesday with a 7.00 pm kick off.

Squad: Lake, Wright, Wilson, Boyle, Hughes, Harris, Seargeant, Kearney, Anichebe, Fowler, Vidarsson, Holt, Gallagher, Davidsen, Hopkins, Irving.
