Moyes Hopeful Of Rooney Deal

David Moyes is remaining optimistic over Everton's chance of securing the long-term services of teenage sensation Wayne Rooney.

The Blues have offered the England international a club record five-year contract and initial talks have taken place with Everton officials now awaiting an official response.

Moyes had hoped that Rooney's representatives would have been in contact sooner but that is not leaving him too downbeat and he expects his young prodigy to accept the new terms.

Moyes said: "We've offered him a tremendous contract and we wait on the reply. I would have hoped we'd have had an answer by now, but hopefully we'll get that very soon.

"Of course I'm optimistic. I said we're going to be positive at Everton and I am. We've made him a tremendous offer and I would expect that to be accepted.

"I think we've made a good offer and I'm sure in the coming days or weeks we'll find out exactly what's going on."
