Stubbs Supports Steve's Steps

Everton star Alan Stubbs is lending his support to the club's Head of IT, Steve Etheridge, who is preparing to undergo a 170-mile hike in aid of Christies Against Cancer.

Stubbs, who suffered from the illness while playing for Celtic, has written to all Premiership and North-West based clubs in a bid to raise sponsorship.

The Christie Hospital is the largest single-site cancer research and treatment centre in Europe with an international reputation for excellence.

It is raising funds to expand its world-class facilities, continue vital research, try new treatment approaches and buy essential equipment.

Somewhat fittingly, Steve begins his walk in Stubbs' former town of Glasgow, travelling due North, before arriving in Inverness 12 days later.

However, the intrepid hiker is no stranger to long walks - having successfully completed the West Highland Way for Comic Relief last year- and raising thousands in the process.

"Please dig deep and sponsor me to help raise much needed funds for this invaluable organisation," said Steve.

"This is the most efficient way for me to raise money and every single penny really helps. Please give as much as you can to encourage my effort."

You can sponsor Steve by clicking on the link below, or to the left. So far he has raised in excess of £1,300 and is hoping to bring the total to £5,000 in the coming weeks.
