Weir's Wait

Everton are still waiting to hear if their appeal against David Weir's sending off for the reserves last week has been successful or not.

The Blues defender faces a three-match ban after being shown red for an altercation with Lorenzo Amoruso in the 83rd minute of the 0-1 defeat to Blackburn Rovers.

David Moyes witnessed the incident at Morecambe's Christie Park and was outraged at the decision that could leave Weir sidelined for the Premiership games against Middlesbrough, Newcastle and Tottenham.

The Blues Boss instructed an appeal to be lodged immediately and the Football Association have confirmed that a tape of the incident has now been sent on to the Video Advisory Panel.

"We have no news on the appeal," said Moyes. "We have made an appeal and are awaiting a reply and hopefully we will hear something later in the week."

Weir, meanwhile, is back in reserve action tonight, kick-off 7.00pm, as the Blues face Leeds United's second string at Haig Avenue.
