Schuey On Loan

Steven Schumacher has followed in Leon Osman's footsteps by joining Carlisle United on loan.

Last October, Osman spent three months at Brunton Park making fifteen appearances and scoring three goals in the process.

Schumacher's loan spell will initially last for a month, but the Third Division side do have an option of extending the deal.

The 19-year-old has signed in time for Carlisle's game with Lincoln City on Saturday and he is expected to go straight into Paul Simpson's sixteen-man squad.

David Moyes has allowed Schumacher, who has captained both Everton and England at every possible youth level, to leave in order to gain first-team experience.

He was in impressive form in the reserves' 1-1 draw with Blackburn on Thursday and the versatile youngster will be looking to impress in the Cumbrians' next five games.

"It's a good move for him - he's a young lad and I'm sure he'll benefit from it," Reserve team boss Andy Holden told evertonfc.com.

"He's been doing well for me and we'll be monitoring his progress up there. It'll be a good experience for him, playing on a Saturday and we wish him well."
