Ladies' Gunners Showdown

Everton Ladies travel to Arsenal on Sunday knowing that they must considerably improve their performance on last week's showing, as their 3-1 win over newly promoted Bristol Rovers at Marine FC was not the most convincing of victories.

However, the Blues showed enough grit and determination to win the match, despite being reduced to 10 players on the after 60 minutes.

The Gunners will provide a tough test for Keith Marley's side. During the pre-season they added yet more depth to their squad by signing England Under 19's star Jo Potter from Birmingham City.

Their recent emphatic 9-2 win at Tranmere Rovers has only underlined the abundance of talent in their squad.

Everton's number 1 Rachel Brown returned yesterday from playing for Icelandic side I.B.V. and has this morning been granted clearance to play by the FA.

Teenage shot stopper Danielle Hill, who did so well against Bristol, will drop to the bench. The Blues have completed their fifth summer signing, striker Sarah Howden from Manchester United.

Howden used to play for Everton until she left to join City. It is likely that she will start up front alongside Sammy Britton, at the expense of Maz Catterall.

The game kicks off at 2.00pm and is being played at St. Albans City F.C.
