David Unsworth led the battle cry ahead of the last match of
last season, and he's doing it again now ahead of Sunday's
match with Bologna.
The match has taken on a bit of extra significance following
Everton's three disappointing reversals in their last three
games and Unsy believes that the players have still got something
to prove to the manager.
"We need a big win and a big performance on Sunday,"
he said.
"Everyone at the club is now fighting for their shirts and
that gives an extra edge as the pre-season draws to a close.
"It is a big game for individuals and it is now up to us to
show the manager that we are worthy of a shirt for the Arsenal
game.
"The defeats have been disappointing but the spirit is fine
within the camp and everyone is looking forward to the season.
"We all know what is required and that is that we have to
better last year. We know what level of performance is
required."
This time last year of course, it was Unsy himself who was
preparing for his Testimonial and, if selected, he told
Evertonfc.com that he'd consider it a privilege to turn out for
one of the club's true legends.
"It is an honour to play in any testimonial and to play in
Colin Harvey's - a true Everton legend - would be an absolute
honour and I hope that Evertonians turn out in their droves on
Sunday."
