Wright Set For Welsh Trip

Richard Wright has been named in the travelling party for the pre-season friendly against Welsh Premier League outfit TNS.

The former England international is set to receive his first taste of football since the final day of the 2002-3 season after he injured his shoulder in a freak domestic accident.

Since then, Wright has been able to train fully with the first team squad, but has been forced to sit out the goalkeeping sessions with Chris Woods.

However, after visiting a specialist on Thursday, the 25-year-old 'keeper is now allowed to continue his rehabilitation by featuring in a competitive game.

"It's now been eight weeks since Richard sustained his injury and we're delighted that specialist has given him the OK to play on Friday," Mick Rathbone told evertonfc.com.

"Richard has been working hard this pre-season on his fitness, but we've had to keep a careful eye on him while he's been doing the goalkeeping work.

"Over the past week or so he's been able to play more of a role in training and he's felt no reaction, but we'll keep our fingers crossed that everything goes well for him on Friday."

Although the clash with the Welsh outfit is billed as a reserve team friendly, David Moyes is keen for Wright to be given as much match practice as possible.

First teamers Li Tie and Lee Carsley are also included in the squad for the trip to TNS, after the midfield duo missed Tuesday night's friendly with Roda JC Kerkrade.

However, Leon Osman and Nick Chadwick, who both featured in the 0-2 defeat at the Parkstad Limburg Stadion will be a part of Andy Holden's side in the final reserve friendly before the season starts.

Squad: Wright, Turner, Clarke, Li Tie, McLeod, Schumacher, Chadwick, B Moogan, O'Hanlon, Pascucci, Schumacher, Brown, Carsley, Garside, Potter, Barry, Osman
