Duo Handed Chance

David Moyes has drafted in Nick Chadwick and Leon Osman to his St Andrews squad in light of the injury to Wayne Rooney.

Both players were ordered to head north on Saturday night just hours after featuring in the reserves' 1-1 draw with Leigh in which Osman scored.

They arrived at the Blues' training base late on Sunday and will now be given an opportunity over the next few days to make a lasting impression on the Everton coaching staff.

Chadwick is the player who could perhaps benefit most from Rooney's misfortune because it pushes him to within touching distance of a first team place.

Tomasz Radzinski and Kevin Campbell will be the automatic first choice for the game against Arsenal and with Duncan Ferguson suspended it leaves the 20-year-old as the only other fit and available forward at the club.

"The situation with Wayne does give Nick a real chance and gets him a bit closer to it," said Moyes.

"But both Nick and Leon have done wonderfully well and I made a decision not to bring them up here at first because I want to give players a chance of getting games.

"At this time of the season match practice is crucial and getting fitness from it, so I want them to get more than 10 or 15 minutes.

"They have both come up because of Wayne's injury and they might get a bit of a game in midweek or they might not."
