David Moyes has drafted in Nick Chadwick and Leon Osman to his
St Andrews squad in light of the injury to Wayne Rooney.
Both players were ordered to head north on Saturday night just
hours after featuring in the reserves' 1-1 draw with Leigh in
which Osman scored.
They arrived at the Blues' training base late on Sunday and
will now be given an opportunity over the next few days to make a
lasting impression on the Everton coaching staff.
Chadwick is the player who could perhaps benefit most from
Rooney's misfortune because it pushes him to within touching
distance of a first team place.
Tomasz Radzinski and Kevin Campbell will be the automatic first
choice for the game against Arsenal and with Duncan Ferguson
suspended it leaves the 20-year-old as the only other fit and
available forward at the club.
"The situation with Wayne does give Nick a real chance and
gets him a bit closer to it," said Moyes.
"But both Nick and Leon have done wonderfully well and I
made a decision not to bring them up here at first because I want
to give players a chance of getting games.
"At this time of the season match practice is crucial and
getting fitness from it, so I want them to get more than 10 or 15
