Another Win For Ablett's Boys

Everton's Milk Cup side made it two wins out of two on Monday when they defeated Shamrock Rovers 1-0 at the University of Ulster.

The scoreline hardly reflected the Blues' dominance over the 60 minutes, as a combination of poor finishing and brilliant defending denied Gary Ablett's side a chance to add to their tally.

Michael Johnson scored the only goal after 20 minutes and with Maccabi Haifa beating County Londonderry by 1-0, Everton just need a point from their game with the Israelis to qualify for the next phase.

"We've played fairly well in both games," said Ablett.

"But we should have killed them off in the first half, it was actually quite frustrating. It could have been 5-0 at half time.

"But there were plenty of positives - we haven't conceded a goal yet and we've defended quite well.

"There's only going to be one team who denies us the chance to qualify to the group stages and that's ourselves.

"We're continuing to work hard and we're looking forward to our next game with Haifa on Tuesday."
