I think everybody looks at the European campaign and the one game that sticks out last season was Fiorentina.
The atmosphere that night was second to none. Everybody talks about the Bayern Munich game in the 1980s that I played in, and I think the Fiorentina game rivalled that.
A packed stadium is important for the players. It helps them without a shadow of a doubt. I'm sure the players here will want to see a full Goodison Park on Thursday night for what will be a difficult game.
But with the backing of a vociferous crowd, I think we can go a long way towards winning the tie.
There's nothing better than walking out of the tunnel when it's a big game. As you walk on to the pitch and see a big crowd and hear them getting behind you, it's magic. There's nothing worse than being out there and seeing empty seats in and around the stadium. That makes you think 'is it an important game?'. Without a doubt this is an important game and I hope the supporters are there on Thursday to help the lads.
We saw what a tough two games Liege gave Liverpool and they were unfortunate not to make the Champions League from those performances.
All our supporters seem to enjoy the European nights - they always have. So it's important that we continue to give them that opportunity - but as I said that before we can't do that alone.
It's different from a league game, a different atmosphere. We need the twelfth man to help bring more European football to Goodison this season.
