MP's Cup Distress
Sport minister Andy Burnham is disappointed at the number of tickets made available to Everton fans for the FA Cup final.
Everton were allocated with just over 25,000 tickets for the final against Chelsea at Wembley on 30 May, with thousands of loyal fans likely to miss the showpiece event.
Burnham is a proud Evertonian and could not hide his dissatisfaction after the Football Association announced the allocation for the 90,000 capacity stadium.
And he suggested that the allocation played into the hands of ticket touts.
"I'm very disappointed," he said. "At that level I don't think we (Everton) are covering our season ticket holders and shareholders.
"I know the FA have a difficult job to do but the FA Cup final is about the fans.
"It does trouble me, tickets were on the internet for £1,000 last week. If there is not sufficient allocation then ticket touts have a field day."
