Leeds U18s v Everton U18s
Everton Under-18s continued pre-season with a 2-2 draw at Leeds United.
The young Blues headed to Yorkshire on Thursday afternoon for their fourth summer friendly in quick succession.
And Kevin Sheedy's side were forced to come from behind twice to emerge with a share of the spoils.
The hosts took the lead on 20 minutes when a clumsy challenge in the area resulted in a well-taken penalty.
The Blues recovered and, following a few changes in the second half, found themselves level through Calum Dyson.
Nathan Holland created the opening in drifting in from the wide left and surging past defenders. His shot was saved by the goalkeeper but striker Dyson was on hand to finish.
Chances came soon after for Delial Brewster and Dyson again, but it would be Leeds to find the net next.
With five minutes to go, slack defending allowed a low shot to find its way home and leave Everton facing their first defeat of pre-season.
But the impressive Holland picked up the ball in the closing stages, dribbling beyond his markers and fired a right-foot shot low into the bottom corner.
After the game, Sheedy told evertonfc.com: "Overall, we're pleased. We dominated the ball and created numerous chances.
"We stayed composed when we went behind, kept passing well and got the goals we deserved.
"We're not overly concerned about the results just yet. It's all about getting the lads minutes and fitness ahead of the season at the minute."
