Wolves U18s v Everton U18s
Everton’s Under-18s mastered gale force conditions to defeat Wolves 1-0 on Saturday.
Tyrone Duffus was the scorer of the game's only goal as he extended his personal scoring record to three in as many games.
Kevin Sheedy’s young charges had the wind in their faces in the first half and were under instructions to keep things as tight as possible with an eye on using conditions to their advantage after the break.
But as things turned out, they managed to score first.
On 20 minutes, Oliver Shannon fired in an effort from 25 yards and when the keeper parried the ball out, Duffus was on hand to convert.
With the wind in their favour after half time the Blues made additional chances, but Duffus couldn’t bag a second and Delial Brewster was also unable to extend the lead.
In the end it mattered not as all three points were secured.
Sheedy told evertonfc.com: “We managed to get the three points and the game was played in gale force conditions.
“We told the lads to make sure they didn’t concede in the first half and we would take it from there.
“As it happened, both sides played better when the wind was in their faces.”
