Sunderland U18s v Everton U18s

Everton Under-18s extended their unbeaten league run to 10 games with a commanding 2-0 win at Sunderland on Saturday afternoon.

The young Blues are vying with Manchester City for top spot of Group One, with a place in the end of season play-offs already sealed.

And there was no let-up from Kevin Sheedy's side as goals from Calum Dyson and Michael Donohue earned victory at the Academy of Light.

The Toffees were in control of the contest from the off, creating numerous opportunities in the first half while nullifying the Black Cats.

And soon after the interval, the breakthrough would arrive.

Courtney Duffus crossed from the right and Dyson was on hand to head home at the far post.

Duffus then saw three efforts saved by the Sunderland goalkeeper and Harry Charsley fired inches wide of the post.

Three points were in the bag on 65 minutes when substitute winger Donohue eased past his marker and ran through on goal to finish in fine fashion.

After the game, Sheedy told evertonfc.com: "It was one of our best performances of the season.

"We totally dominated from start to finish. We kept the ball well and created chances, limited them to none in the first half. We were fully in command and in the second, we really played well.

"We still want to finish top of the league. We can't take our foot off the pedal as we've got two big games left against Tottenham and Manchester United."
