Stoke U18s v Everton U18s
Everton Under-18s six-match winning streak in the league came to an end on Saturday afternoon as they were held to a 1-1 draw away at Stoke City.
The Potters started the brightest and took the lead with a long-range strike from a trialist in the 21st minute.
Kevin Sheedy’s side then kicked into gear and claimed a share of the spoils with an equaliser on the hour mark.
Jordan Thorniley played a ball into Calum Dyson who delivered a testing cross that was turned into his own net by a Stoke defender.
The Blues pressed for a winner late on but were denied on several occasions, leaving them to accept a point.
Coach Sheedy said: “The first half an hour was as poor as we have played all season but we responded well in the second half.
“Calum Dyson got his second assist in as many weeks and we were then the team that finished the strongest. We had chances to win the game but the Stoke goalkeeper made several good saves late on.”
