Everton U18s v Reading U18s
Everton Under-18s' excellent run was brought to a halt in dramatic fashion by Reading on Saturday.
The Toffees took a 2-0 first half lead and looked to be cruising towards a seventh straight win only for the Royals to rally in the second half to snare all three points with a 3-2 victory.
The Blues began well and dominated before taking the lead after 20 minutes when Tyrone Duffus slipped George Green's cross home.
The lead was doubled shortly after when full-back Callum Connolly scored his third goal in as many games with a low shot.
But after half-time Reading were much improved and Everton began slowly.
They conceded possession too readily and resorted to the long ball instead of passing it around.
It would be a 45 minute period coach Kevin Sheedy described as their worst of the season and the Royals pulled a goal back after 10 minutes of the half.
A further 15 minutes later it was 2-2 and then, with a quarter of an hour to go a shell-shocked Everton conceded a killer third goal from a penalty box melee.
To their credit, Sheedy's men were stirred and forced the visiting keeper into a number of good saves before the end - though their efforts were in vain.
