Cardiff City LFC 1-3 Everton Ladies

Everton Ladies kicked off their 2014 campaign with an FA Cup fifth round win at Cardiff City on Sunday.

Andy Spence's side ran out 3-1 winners against the Bluebirds and will now head full of confidence into next weekend's WSL curtain raiser at Birmingham City.

Everton hit the front in Wales when Kelly Jones turned in with just seven minutes on the clock.

Cardiff levelled, but a penalty from skipper Michelle Hinnigan restored the Blues' lead, before Nikita Parris ensured a safe passage through with a late third.

Saturday's game kicked off at 2.07pm in memory of the 96 victims of the Hillsborough disaster.

The Ladies' first home game of the season will be against Notts County at Halton Stadium on Sunday 20 April (kick off 2pm).
