Blackburn Rovers U21s v Everton U21s
Everton Under-21s are aiming to stretch their unbeaten run to four matches when they return to action against struggling Blackburn Rovers on Monday evening (7pm kick-off).
After their courageous 3-2 comeback victory over Chelsea at Goodison Park a fortnight ago, the young Blues will again get the opportunity to grace a first-team venue at Ewood Park.
Alan Stubbs’ side have already played at the Etihad Stadium and St James’ Park this season and now the next destination is Rovers’ 32,000-capacity home.
The in-form Hallam Hope – a scorer of three goals in his last two matches – could lead the line for Everton against a Blackburn side that sit second from bottom of the league table in 21st place.
The Lancashire outfit have won just once all season and tasted a bitter 3-0 reverse at neighbours Bolton Wanderers last time out.
Blackburn Under-21s are coached by former Scotland international Colin Hendry, who stepped up to occupy the position following Gary Bowyer’s appointment as first-team manager.
Victory could propel Everton’s second string up to fourth place in the league table, dependant on results elsewhere.
Kick-off is at 7pm and fans can keep up to date via our Twitter page and evertonfc.com for match updates, a full report and reaction.
