Fulham U21s v Everton U21s
Everton Under-21s return to competitive action for the first time in four weeks on Monday evening when they make the trip south to tackle Fulham.
A combination of bad weather and rescheduled FA Youth Cup ties has left the second string kicking their heels in frustration recently, particularly after such a good start to their Group One campaign last month.
The Under-21s were comfortable 3-0 winners at Blackburn in their league opener but have not had an opportunity to build on that result and performance since.
Like the players, coach Alan Stubbs has been irritated by the lack of matches, although he is confident the Blues can pick up where they left off against the Cottagers, who are yet to win any of their first three fixtures.
The London club lost their derby with Chelsea 2-0 before recording 2-2 away draws with both Sunderland and Middlesbrough.
Stubbs said: “It’s been such a long time since we played against Blackburn, where it was good to get a victory and performance as well. We played very well on that night.
“We’ve had games against Chelsea and Aston Villa postponed, and now we find ourselves getting ready for Fulham on Monday.
“We will travel down on the day in the morning, get to the hotel and rest before the game to get ourselves prepared. I know the lads are all looking forward to playing and we are hoping for another positive performance.
“I’ve watched some highlights of Fuham’s games on the video, so we will show that to the lads too and highlight what they will try to do against us.
“Obviously there was the first team game on Sunday, so we will look to see what squad we have available. But whatever team we put out will be competitive – that’s one thing that is for sure.”
Kick-off against Fulham on Monday evening is at 7pm. Check the Club’s official Twitter account @Everton for regular updates or read a full match report on the official website shortly after the full-time whistle.
