QPR v Everton

Royston Drenthe's long range screamer was the highlight as Everton drew 1-1 with QPR.

The Dutchman struck on the half hour to put his side ahead but then gave away the free-kick which lead to Rangers' equaliser.

Everton deserved their lead at the time but from that point on the London side were generally on top, striking the post twice at the end of the first half.

The Blues had begun positively and Tim Cahill's smart volley hit the bar inside four minutes.

Clint Hill had a couple of chances that didn't trouble Tim Howard but the American was required to repel Buzsaky's free-kick 20 minutes in.

Drenthe tested Paddy Kenny from range by way of reply before the winger's centre fell to John Heitinga who, surprised, could only bundle the ball along the line where it was gratefully snaffled by the home custodian.

Shaun Wright-Phillips' diving header was just wide at the other end and instead it was the Toffees who took a 31st minute lead.

Marouane Fellaini robbed Adel Taraabt in midfield and fed Steven Pienaar who slipped Drenthe in down the middle.

The Dutchman took a couple of strides forward before unleashing a netbuster from 25 yards which arrowed low past Kenny.

Taraabt saw his free kick deflected over but then Drenthe turned villain as he scythed down the Morrocan and the resultant free kick was glanced in by Zamora at the near post.

After Loftus Road had been distracted by a squirrel scampering around the pitch there was  an amazing sequence where first Taraabt and immediately afterwards Buzsaky struck the woodwork just before the half time break.

Nedum Onuoha couldn't divert Shaun Derry's volley goalwards after the resumption, with Fellaini lashing over at the other end.

The quality of play on offer from both sides decreased after that and Moyes sent on Leon Osman and Nikica Jelavic in an attempt to change things.

But it was the home side who went close to going ahead when Taraabt shot narrowly wide.

Rangers were very much in the ascendancy and Buzsaky tested Howard again with 15 minutes left.

Seamus Coleman made a late appearance for the Toffees but he was barely involved before time ran out.
