Man Utd v Everton

Team News (new)

Manchester United came through Sunday's victory over Aston Villa unscathed. Apart from long-term absentees Nemanja Vidic (knee), Darren Fletcher (illness) and Anders Lindegaard (ankle), the Red Devils boast a fully-fit squad.

Leighton Baines was substituted towards the end of Saturday's defeat at Wembley and Jack Rodwell (hamstring) is yet to return to action. But Steven Pienaar is eligible once again after missing the FA Cup semi-final against Liverpool.

What They Say

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand: "“We put pressure on ourselves to win games. The pressure comes from within and from the fans. They demand that and so does the boss. We have to go out there and produce our own result first - outside pressure doesn’t come into it. We want to win every game until the end of the season. That has not changed and it won’t change until the last day of the season.”

Everton's former Manchester United midfielder Darron Gibson: "It is nice to know you’re in with a more-than-likely chance of playing every week, rather than not. I am just enjoying it [at Everton] and I’m in a better mood now, I know that. It’s surprised me how well it’s gone because I wasn’t sure. This was the first club I have moved to — I was at United since I was 15. I wasn’t sure what to expect but I’m really enjoying my football. It is a great club.”

Last Meeting (new)

October 29, 2012. Everton 0-1 Manchester United. The Blues suffered defeat to Sir Alex Ferguson's side at Goodison Park for the first time in four years. A close-range finish from Javier Hernandez on 19 minutes separated the teams in a game David Moyes’ men dominated for periods without finding the net.

Classic Match (new)

September 11, 2010. Everton 3-3 Manchester United. A sensational late comeback from the Blues snatched a precious point in injury time. Steven Pienaar had given the hosts the lead in the first half, but the Red Devils hit back through Darren Fletcher, Nemanja Vidic and Dimitar Berbatov. With the scoreline remaining at 3-1 as the clock passed 90 minutes, Tim Cahill and Mikel Arteta conjured up two goals at the death to make it honours even in the most dramatic of fashions.

Us And Them (new)

Darron Gibson's January switch from Old Trafford to Goodison Park saw him become the latest player to appear for both illustrious clubs. Here's our full XI:

In goal, current Toffees stopper Tim Howard commands a back-three of Mark Higgins, John O'Kane and Phil Neville.

A probing midfield quartet is marshalled by Gibson and Norman Whiteside operating centrally. The flanks are full of pace in the form of Russian winger Andrei Kanchelskis and Welshman Mickey Thomas.

And they will be providing a forward three of marksmen in Louis Saha, Wayne Rooney and Brian Kidd.
