Stoke Yth 2-1 Everton Yth
Everton's Under-18s' title chances were dented on Tuesday as they suffered a 2-1 defeat away at Stoke City.
The Blues travelled to Staffordshire for their third game in just seven days, but two goals either side of the interval were enough to steal victory for the hosts.
Everton dominated proceedings from the off but it was Stoke who took the lead on 25 minutes against the run of play.
But despite numerous chances at goal for the Blues it remained 1-0 to the hosts at the interval.
The young Blues continued to trouble the Potters' net, and eventually got their equaliser after an impressive individual display from Conor McAleny set Louis Codling up to head home on 75 minutes.
Moses Barnett had an excellent opportunity to put the Blues in front with ten minutes to spare with a solid run, but his chip over the goalkeeper went just wide of the post.
With five minutes left on the clock and Everton desperate for a winner they were caught off guard and as Femi Orenuga chased back to halt their break, the hosts were handed a penalty at the expense of the midfielder.
And Stoke netted from the spot to secure three points for the hosts.
"It hasn't been just physically demanding, its mentally demanding too," Dewsnip told evertonfc.com. "Our cramped fixture list it due to the bad weather at the start of the year and the Youth Cup run.
"They're in a tough place right now, and at a young level it really is very demanding, and it showed last night."
