Beckford 51 , Bilyaletdinov 65

Goodison Park | 4th August 2010 20:00 | Attendance - 25934
It won't come as any surprise that Everton were the winners of this entertaining pre-season clash!
Happily, it was the Merseyside originals who triumphed 2-0 over their Chilean counterparts on a historic evening which bore some real positives for David Moyes and his side.
An utterly dominant first half display, a clean sheet for new goalie Jan Mucha, a first Goodison goal for Jermaine Beckford and the extension of the 100 per cent pre-season record would have been great news without the return of Marouane Fellaini putting the icing on the cake.

The iconic midfielder even assisted Everton's second goal for Diniyar Bilyaletdinov.
Before the game there was a tremendous reception for Mark Halsey who was making an emotional return to refereeing a top flight side after emerging from a battle with throat cancer.
Everton were firmly in control in the first half and Steven Pienaar's free kick was well saved just four minutes in.
A rare effort from the visitors' Mauro Guevgeozian was way over from long range not long after but then Everton produced a flurry of chances.

Bilyaletdinov, Beckford and Tim Cahill had three decent opportunities in quick succession around the quarter hour mark, with Pienaar and ex-Leeds man Beckford again going close shortly after.
Cesar Cortes briefly threatened for the Chileans but then normal service was resumed as Cahill first glanced a corner wide from close range, then nodded just past the post after a great Everton move.
Soon Jack Rodwell was in on the act with a shot that was well blocked and then a cheeky flick from Beckford went just wide.
The Toffees came closer still to a first half goal five minutes before the break when Cahill headed against the bar from Bilyaletdinov's corner.

Fellaini delighted the Goodison park faithful when entered the fray at half time, making a return from the ankle injury he suffered back in February. The Belgian was one of six substitutions made by David Moyes at the interval.
And it was another new man, Magaye Gueye, whose delicious cross was expertly guided into the top corner by the head of Beckford in the 51st minute.
Everton continued to dominate and it was no surprise when Bilyaletdinov doubled the lead with a powerful 65th minute volley from Fellaini's knockdown.

Chances were less frequent with the home side controlling the game in the latter stages, limiting the South Americans to pot shots from distance which were never likely to trouble second half keeper Iain Turner.
And before the end Gueye went close to making it three with a well struck drive that was beaten away by Dalsasso.
There was even time for a comical episode of pinball in the visitors' six yard box before the Toffees lifted the Copa Hermandad - translated as the Brotherhood Cup.
