Portugal v Holland 30/06/2004 19:45
Portugal reached the final of the European Championships for the first time in their history with a 2-1 win over Holland at the José Alvalade Stadium in Lisbon.
Cristiano Ronaldo gave the hosts the lead after 26 minutes. Giovanni Van Bronkhorst left him unmarked from a corner and the Manchester United youngster was on hand to head home from close range.
Edwin Van der Sar kept Holland in the match with some fine saves including two breathtaking stops against Pauleta either side of half time.

Maniche scored one of the goals of the tournament to double Portugal's advantage on 58 minutes. He picked the ball up from a corner and curled a right-footed shot across Van der Sar and into the top right-hand corner of the net.
Five minutes later Jorge Andrade scored an own goal to put Holland back in the match. His outstretched foot from a Van Bronkhorst cross diverted the ball over Ricardo to make the score 2-1.
Dutch coach Dick Advocaat brought on Rafael Van der Vaart and Pierre Van Hooijdonk to try and find an equaliser but Holland could not find a way past Ricardo and crashed out of EURO 2004.
