The Blues’ unbeaten run began to gather pace during November and the month starterd brightly with a 3-1 win over Birmingham City.
Yet David Moyes’ men left it late despite totally dominating play. With the score poised at 1-1 entering injury time – Lee Carsley and James Vaughan netted in stoppage time to seal a magnificent win.
Carsley’s sublime volley and Vaughan’s strike - his first goal since dislocating his shoulder in July, ensured a smash and grab victory for the Blues.
Less than a week later the Toffees resumed their Uefa Cup trail with a trip to Germany to face FC Nurnberg. Again it was another late show with the Blues leaving it until the final 10 minutes to maintainin their 100 per cent winning start to Group A.
Roared on by the sensational away support in Easy Credit Stadion, super sub Victor Anichebe inspired Everton to victory. In the 83rd minute the young striker was hauled down inside the box and Mikel Arteta made no mistake from the penalty spot.
With less than two minutes to go Anichebe used his strength to power past the Nurnberg defence to squeeze the ball under the keeper to make the score 2-0.
Next up was Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Tim Cahill’s stunning 89th minute scissor-kick ensured the Blues a share of the spoils in West London.
It was a just reward for an industrious display, with Joleon Lescott superb against Drogba and Tim Howard simply outstanding.
After five and a half years at Goodison assistant manager Alan Irvine left the Club to join Preston North End on November 20.
Irvine took over from former Lilywhites boss Paul Simpson, who was sacked earlier in the month.
The Toffees saved the best until last at the end of the month with the sensational 7-1 mauling of Sunderland at Goodison.
It was quite simply an outstanding performance from David Moyes’ men with braces from Yakubu, Tim Cahill along with efforts from Steven Pienaar, Andrew Johnson and Leon Osman.
