The new season kicked off at Goodison on August 11 with a 2-1 victory over Wigan.
Leon Osman netted the first goal of the new season, with Victor Anichebe doubling the advantage before a late Antoine Sibierski consolation for the visitors.
That victory set the Blues off in impressive fashion, coming just four days after the arrival of Leighton Baines from the JJB Stadium for an undisclosed fee.
And the talented young full-back was not the last of the new signings.
German goalkeeper Stefan Wessels, Middlesbrough striker Yakubu and former Blues' favourite Thomas Gravesen all signed in before the transfer deadline on August 31.
Yakubu's £11.25m arrival represented a Club record signing - and provided a signal of intent at the outset of a season in which the added focus of a European excursion ensured hopes were high.
The Wigan victory was followed by an even more impressive three point haul at White Hart Lane - the second consecutive season in which the Toffees have departed the once impregnable Tottenham home with a 3-1 success.
The first upset of the new season came at The Madejski Stadium, with a 1-0 reverse.
That came at a time when there was an equal degree of focus on the result of the stadium ballot - with the results announced before the end of the month. The fans voted in favour of a move to Kirkby with a 59 per cent majority.
The final league game of the month was a 1-1 draw at home to Blackburn.
