August
Everton welcomed two new faces in August - Diniyar Bilyaletdinov from Lokomotiv Moscow and Sylvain Distin from Portsmouth.
The major outgoing transfer was the departure of Joleon Lescott to Manchester City.
The season began with a catastrophic 6-1 defeat to Arsenal – Everton’s worst ever on the opening day of a season.
To make matters worse, a second defeat against Burnley followed as Louis Saha missed a penalty at Turf Moor.
However, this didn't effect proceedings in Europa League qualification in between - as four goals past Czech side Sigma Olomouc handed a sizeable advantage heading into the away leg.
And group stage qualification was secured despite being held to a 1-1 draw abroad.
The group stage draw dealt Everton tricky fixtures against Portuguese side Benfica, with trips to AEK Athens and BATE Borisov in Belarus also in the pipeline.
And the Toffees final outing of August saw the visit of Wigan Athletic to Goodison - and Everton's first Premier League victory of the campaign - although they left it very late as Leighton Baines' 90th-minute penalty secured their first points of the season.
