The disappointment of the FA Cup final loss on the final day of May was tempered by the fact that three of the Blues' key players agreed lengthy contract extensions with the Club.
Goalkeeper Tim Howard and defenders Joseph Yobo and Phil Jagielka all committed their long-term futures to Everton early in the month.
The three players were integral to manager David Moyes’ plans and he was suitably delighted with the players.
Two players who were to move on were Portuguese full-back Nuno Valente - after four seasons - and Ecuadorian midfielder Segundo Castillo who left Goodison Park following his one-season loan spell. Andy van der Meyde's unsettled also came to an end.
As there was no international finals tournament in the summer, countries around the globe were all fighting for the 31 places on offer at the 2010 World Cup.
Tim Cahill scored both goals for Australia in a 2-1 victory against Asian qualifying group rivals Japan. The result meant that the Socceroos became one of four sides to gain qualification for South Africa.
Another future Blues player, John Heitinga, was busy helping the Netherlands win by the same score over Iceland to be the first European side to secure their place in the finals.
A number of Everton players were on international duty, including Jack Rodwell who was part of the England Under-21 side who reached the final of the European Championships.
Joseph Yobo's Nigeria gained four points from their two African qualifying group fixtures, beating Kenya 3-0 in Abuja and drawing 0-0 away in Rades with Tunisia.
Steven Pienaar and Howard were assisting their country's chances in the quadrennial Confederations Cup, as South Africa and USA respectively advanced to the last four of the competition.
Pienaar and his Bafana Bafana team-mates were unfortunately beaten in the semi-finals by Brazil, but the United States defeated co-favourites and European champions, Spain 2-0 in the other semi.
The Red, White and Blues led Carlos Dunga's side in the final until 16 minutes from time, when they were pegged back and finally overcome.
Howard did receive the Golden Glove award for the best goalkeeper of the tournament.
And to round the month off, Dan Gosling got a call-up to Brian Eastick's England Under-19s ahead of the European Championships in July and August.
